After posting this on the fan page over the weekend, a "Mean Girls" movie session was inevitable. I'm always amazed at how much I still laugh at the same jokes. The film is definitely right there next to "Clueless" and "10 Things I hate about you" as the most quotable films of our time. But despite "Mean Girls" intense amount of high school fabulousness, I still can't make sense of the awkward "animal" moments scattered throughout. I'm all for tapping into your animal instincts but lets aim for a less psychical approach... like incorporating into your winter wardrobe. From leopard, to zebra, to sneak skin and beyond, it seems every member of the jungle is fighting for its moment on the runway these days. Sure, a dramatic print can be ultra fabulous, but they do tend to come with a side challenge. There's a thin line between classically chic and looking like a cast member of Jerseylicious. The key is styling. Once you have your print of choice, focus on toning it down with all the extra additions. Neutral colors will always blend beautifully, but I do urge you to toss in some color here and there. When it comes to styling my favorite animal prints, I always turn to layering. An eye catching peek of print will always add a fun element without being too in your face. I recently took this approach here, with the same dress. Above I'm wearing a stunning Jennifer Lopez for Kohl's trench which I paired with my Andrew Charles leopard print dress and an over sized scarf from Hollister. To add a hint of fall nostalgia, I added my orange knee highs and my go-to grey chunky heels by Candie's. I urge you all to try incorporating leopard prints into your wardrobe this winter. A scarf, handbag or even a major pair of leopard print ankle boots, will always take an ensemble to the next level. What's your favorite way to wear leopard?
